Dunno. But I guess that it's either a commissioned piece for a St Paddy's Day concert or a lollipop encore in a classical gig.

Sweeps Festival, Rochester, Kent
1st -3rd May 2010

Anyone interested in going to the Sweeps Festival this year? Lots of music, lots of ale :D . Interesting city. Also Morris dancing.... well you can't have everything... Most venues are free to enter (and you can exit any time if it's not to your taste) and drinks and food is all at normal prices, not hiked up for the weekend. It is easily reached by train from London. Very easy walking distance from Rochester station. Reasonable parking (free if you know where to look) but don't drink and drive. Child friendly during the day.

Full details available here. http://www.whatsonmedway.co.uk/download ... og2010.pdf

I will probably be there all three days (though Monday is only a half day, really). I know quite a few of the bands, (and all the pubs :D ) so I can give you some idea of what's available. Feel free to send me a PM. :)

Top Tip: Unless you like plastic, bring a tankard for your ale. Glass is banned.

If you are looking for a weekend of Hip-hop, Soul, funk and other abominations, look elsewhere. :D

If I ever got the chance, I would like to hear her singing live.

It would be lovely if the group was there when I visit.

Not bad Emma! I suggest this be sung in substitution of the warning advice broadcast between the two security doors when entering a bank shop :laughter:

I'm watching Carole Carole King and James Taylor on the telly. They are both still dead good. It's hard to believe they are both about my age and still sounding young.

My daughter is also on a trip down memory lane, at the Crowded House gig in Edinburgh with her husband, a birthday present he arranged for her with built in babysitting by his Mum.

I thought I would recommend the following music videos to you. These are amongst my forever favourite songs:

"Holiday" by Scorpions

"Imagine" by John Lennon

"The Temple of the King" by Rainbow

"I Love You More than I Can Say" by Leo Sayer

 Happy Humanist signing off!

I love Carole King and James Taylor! In fact, I saw Mr Taylor live about 6 years ago at an open air concert downtown. Wonderful.
PS. I like some Crowded House as well.

Yes, a music thread. I've been looking for something appropriate.

Recently, I got this sudden motivation at random to start making music. I just have my last two exams of Wednesday to do and then I'm set.

I love the violin and recently I've been bitten by the Erhu bug. Has anyone heard of an Erhu (a chinese violin/fiddle)?

I really need some pointers to get me started. Does anyone know someone who plays?

Band of Two at The Barge last night. A bit unusual. A punter asked if they did anything American, so they

shot him.

I have had a musical holiday at the Common Ground Summer School in Dundee. I was there principally to learn to play bellows blown smallpipes but had a great time playing along with other instruments including guitars, mandolins, ukeleles, whistles, fiddles and three types of bagpipe, none of which was of the Great Highland variety. We also played and sang in the bar when the evening concert was done. The accommodation was good and the food superb.

In many ways it was like being a student again, except that I'm no longer able to stay up all night drinking. Midnight was about my limit.
