Re: Good science v Bad (or pseudo) Science

Here's an interesting article written by Physicist John Droz, Jr. in North Carolina. He writes about the struggle against a few Green activists on the Coastal Resources Commission (NC), they wanted to impose new rules and laws based on a single bad science sea level rise report. http://www.masterres...

The BBC forgot to mention how Graphene was going to stop the climate changing and save some polar bears.

Re: Film criticism and recommendation

I'm into scifi too, but there aren't many new films out there.... so..... Tucker and Dale vs. Evil - Not scifi but a very funny twist on 'Cabin in the woods' massacre movies. Iron Sky is better than expected. The Guard (2009) is excellent. Kick Ass (2010) Sling Blade (1996) if you haven't seen it. S...

Re: Is ZoneAlarm® Free Antivirus + Firewall is safe to use?

You should check to see if your broadband provider has antivirus. I used Vipre (very cheap) but after I loaded the Talk Talk antivirus it found several viruses and trojans that Vipre ignored.

When you say data is data, to me, that is like saying that Shakespeare is a valid history of our monarchs or the Romans.

Re: lmbarre - I would like to ask you some questions.

Thanks for your reply. I cannot find any archeological Roman reference on the Web regarding the name Jew, Jewish or Judaism written before Medieval times, not even in the hieroglyphs of Egypt. When it is stated that Tacitus mentioned Jesus or Suetonius mentioned Christians (he he), these weren't act...

lmbarre - I would like to ask you some questions.

Since you came on here I have been trying to make some sense out of the Jesus story myself. As you have obviously done much research on the subject, it would probably be easier for me to ask you directly. Are there any Roman archeological references to Jews? If so, can you please give me the referen...

Re: What is a human?*

The ability to exploit every living creature including ourselves, and greed, is what differentiates us from animals. Not sure that is true, there are plenty of animals that show those traits ...and plenty of living creatures that we do not exploit. Does anyone know the last (or even the first) time...

Re: The improbability of the universe

Humans tend to make things up. Humans make things up about what they can't explain, even modern cosmology tries to model the beginning of the Universe, which, in my opinion is as accurate as any religious version. If I was to take an Ipod to a tribe that had no idea about technology, I could make th...

Re: Lie detectors

The problem appears to be that the public at large believe they work. In some counties in the UK, polygraphs have been used where someone is accused of a sex offence, on the accused and the accuser. I see the public belief that they work, as a positive. It may discourage those guilty of taking the ...
