Re: Out of Body Experience Interpreted
On ITU where I work, when people are very poorly/sedated people see fish on the walls, they tell me about these fish and I say do you really think fish can live floating on walls, to which they reply yes. Once out of ITU and back to reality they still can't seperate the feeling that the fish were re...

Re: Grand Theft Auto V makes fun of Atheism and Humanism
I don't understand the issue, GTA 5 mocks nearly everything about modern day life, its full of mocking, satirical, absurd pop culture. Even if the developers were mocking Atheism, and this particular example is an 'easter egg' which in game terms means its something you actively seek out because its...

I can't stand what google are doing with google+ and all the integration with their other products like youtube, they are dropping like a stone in my estimations, not that it matters to them ofc, they are raking it in.

Might as well add another crazy to the list of religions, anything that paints religion in a negative light is okay for me, give them tax breaks and maybe we can get one of them a free pass in to the house of lords. Drives me mad all this lark.

Re: Personal data and the web
I'm way to lackadaisical about my online information, couldn't give 2 monkies who has it, within reason, I'm sure there are consequences to my apathy but I can't see how it's a problem for me if the NSA or the CIA or Mi5 know that I talk to the usual collection of loners, weirdos and trolls on inter...

Re: Nelson Mandela RIP
Churchill is always voted Britains greatest person, we paper over the massive cracks to create an artificial figurehead, he was often incompetent and distrusted by many, his failures and ineptitude less to many hundreds of thousands of dead. I guess if we Annalyse all of the greats of the world well...

Re: Humanists and Santa
Children understand make-believe extremely well. Fairies, Santa, Batman, the lot. They move between stories without bothering about all that true-not true stuff. It's play. As we grow older, we see that some things are actually true, and some things are socially significant myths. The same happens ...

Of course Ill let them believe in santa, I don't see any reason to not encourage imagination and fun, its not like in the future my kids will be worshipping santa in the hopes to receive another polly in my pocket.

The man cosied up to the worst dictators and continued to support them throughout their tyranny. Please tell me more, Draykorinee. I'm sure anyone can just find their own information on Mandela's past, as much as the mainstream media avoid it, there is still plenty out there. As you say, politics i...

Re: Nelson Mandela RIP
The media has clearly done its job well in eradicating Mandelas past at least among my social circle, Ive read all sorts about a true hero, a perfect human being, I am not saying he didn't have great moments, but people have been fed so much that my wall is full of the 'injustice' of his incarcerati...

I assume this is a rhetorical question, signed but it won't make a jot of difference, mysoganism will always exist when people worship archaic man made texts, but at least we can say we tried :S

For once I agree, the BBC can stick the tv licence where the sun don't shine, sick and tired of that coming out of my account every month to pay for something I never ever watch.

War
I am wondering if anyone knows of anything related to serving in the army and particularly going to war as a humanist, if human life is so valuable is it still okay to join the army and fight in places like Iraq? I know you can't blanket all humanists together, but it would seem to me that it would ...

Well, I would hope to reitire early, as a nurse we have a decent pension ...at the moment... Ha, thats the problem, we nurses are notorious for taking it up the jacksie, our hands are basically tied by our NMC code of conduct, striking is pretty much off the cards, it would be a minor miracle if nu...
