Re: Battery Hens
Thanks Nick and Chris.
I think Quorn is free range. I would like to see Tescos and Mr Kipling etc putting free range in their baking products as I do not know if what they use.

Battery Hens
What is the gen on battery hens these days? Weren't the government going to phase them out. Which shops only use free range in their products? How do we tell people about free range some friends of mine although working in an environment which helps humans who have been abused do not know about free...

Re: DIET AND THE NHS
Yes I know one cannot avoid everything in life which can be injurious to health. I think people are trying to clean the air up in cities. Some people can be more prone to types of illness than others though. What do you think of the ban of cigarette smoking in public places?

Re: DIET AND CANCER
Thanks Alan C and Happy New Year to All. To the person discussing lung and breast cancer then I suppose only the experts would know although I suppose research is being done all the time hopefully anyway. Its annoying when one does not smoke etc and still gets lung cancer but breast cancer can lead ...

Vegetariansism and the NHS
Perhaps The VHG could contact the NHS and ask them to provide more variety regarding vegetarian and vegan food in hospitals?

Re: The Atheist Bus Campaign - is it a good use of money?
Rape Crisis isn't always effective I agree it will depend on various things. It sounds more like a Buddhist thing to say that the rape was for a reason as some Buddhists believe that a person chosses to go through various trials in order to achieve Nivana or something. A reason why this may be somet...

Re: Scamming the scammers
Not sure if this is relevant but I am keeping my account active. Has anyone heard of the false post office scam? Apparently some overseas firm has been telling people that some people are to receive a parcel from the Royal Mail. It gives out a telephone number and as this is a premium rate then the ...

Re: The Atheist Bus Campaign - is it a good use of money?
The Christians probably let this young woman express her anger etc regarding her situation which is generally considered necessary. Of course these days there are rape crisis counsellors but possibly not enough of them

Re: The Atheist Bus Campaign - is it a good use of money?
I think Autumn made a good point. the Guardian reported that fairth groups were very good at giving to charity even when recession hits so maybe we shuld give to charity to beat them and we could be the best. I doubt if a bus campaign would come to Scotland because of the owner of the bus company's ...

Hello peneasy
Can you back up your assertions with source materials. I got my assertion partly from a book written by a Humanist and I did not say Jesus was a Humansist exactly although I suppose I might of implied it.

Re: Nice New Spread
I used to use Tescos quite happily but I can't get it now even at Tescos.
The new low-salt version mentioned by Chris et al can be bought at my local health food store now so it looks as if it is spreading. - sorry the word spreading just came out.

Re: Are you a humanist or what?
Christian Humanism does seem rather contradictary but there was a study done by an atheist using various sources saying that there was a person who came to be known as Jesus. He didn't work miracles of the loaves and fishes sort but he was influential in his way. If you believe the influence was for...

Unfortunately I haven't the skills to grow much but hopefully someone will take you up on this Alan C. I think I may have heard of the company before.
Yes the weather here has been very blustery and in Stirling the roads were too bad for people to travel
Hope it gets better.

Re: Question Regarding Animal Experimentation
Thank you for telling me the facts about bats. The article I read was a more general praise of bats and not an in depth article so they did not explain the differnces. The animal rights lobby do say that testing on animals is not effective but then they would say that. I suppose the truth is that in...

Atheist Prayers
Some of you may have already seen a book I spotted in a book stall recently. As far as I can remember its called Atheist Spirituality. The writer definately does not believe in a supernatural god. Of course when one reads books in book shops it isn't the same as reading at home so I hope I did get t...

Interesting that the Scottish Pagan Federation are discussing this subject in their current newsletter maybe its because it Autumn or something. The Pagans try to go by the guideline "an harm none do what you will" and in the newsletter a Pagan scientist explores his concerns regarding experimenting...

Good news re my wee boy in Guinea. maybe describing some of our agricultural issues made a difference although PLAN is getting the credit - of course if I am in PLAN then I am part of PLAN too. Telling them about the rainy season in Scotland was a good thing. Anyway although the parents of Faya had ...
