Re: Weather - or not!
Could be here :laughter: I had a couple from Yorkshire in the garden a few weeks ago (they're doing a blog about growing stuff in difficult conditions) He asked me how I cope in a drought :hilarity: We've only had one occasion of two consecutive dry days this year. It's pissing down with a South Wes...

This shouldn't be in the comedy thread but it fits with the thread title (I'm surprised it hasn't already been posted) Hajj pilgrimage: 717 dead in crush near Mecca I was only saying to Lewis the other night, it seems that every time a big gathering of religionists get together there is some sort of...

Wouldn't any UK 'Politician' Say the same if pressed? They (politicians) Think (wrongly) That the UK population gives a fuck about 'religion' Look at this sanctimonious offering today from "the most reverend" Welby guy. Welby urges MPs: reject right-to-die bill that ‘crosses the Rubicon They wonder ...

Re: GM and the Greens
animist Alan, as someone who actually grows food, what do you think about the claims that GM could help Scottish farmers cope with potato blight? [Citation needed] Did you mean Irish farmers? Tattie blight isn't an issue in Scotland, plus blight resistant tatties have been available for years, long...

Re: GM and the Greens
That's my biggest issue with GM crops but the supporters [of GM] ignore it and make out that the only issue is food safety, it's not!Gottard
I don't like the fact that often semences are "copyrighted" and unable to re-germinate causing added cost to produce growers.
Cross posting.

GM crops won't produce viable seed, that in my opinion is reason enough to be anti GM.

Clearly not of the Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu ('mother Teresa') School of thinking then? Not sure about the rationale behind it but I do not fully believe that "suffering is good for the soul'.

Oh and he's forgoing his 'ministerial severance pay' 3 months 'wages' £17.000,
last year he claimed over £200,000 in expenses, my heart bleeds.

After skimming through this thread, I must say that the NHS is not free, we all pay for it. Granted, some did say 'free at the point of delivery' Which is what it is and what it should be. As for privatisation, this is not a new thing, I worked at the West Cumberland Hospital from 1982 till 1984, in...

Re: 2015 UK General Election
Nick. UKIP is likely to receive more than double the votes of the SNP, and gain one or two MPs compared to 50 or so SNP MPs. Hmmm.... Tough shit, that's the way it works in our so called 'democracy' Secondly, a crucial difference between the Lib Dems in coalition and the SNP in coalition is that th...

If you read Giles Fraser'. articles in the Guardian, you will probably conclude that he is no more 'religious' than I am.Dave B wrote:Yesterday's TFTD (1h 49m in) actually supported RD!
Dr Giles Fraser (an Anglo priest cum journalist) quoted and supported Dawkins - makes a change!
