Re: 2015 UK General Election
Sadly, I think the real problem for English socialists is that there isn't really a socialist party. Labour moved well away from that position from Blair onwards.Altfish wrote:The problem for us English socialists is that the SNPs success is having a detrimental effect on the Labour party's chances of winning.

Re: 2015 UK General Election
can any of the TH Scots contingent give their view on why the SNP's support has rocketed so much since the (from the SNP's POV) failure to win the independence referendum? Presumably a lot of people who now support the SNP did not vote for independence last September Yup, Animist, I'll give it a go...

Re: 2015 UK General Election
I tend to forget that the Assembly uses PR - at least according to Wiki, the regional vote is by closed list PR but the constituency vote is FPTP. How does this work in practice? Well it's better than just FPTP, and we still have local representation. Interestingly the political parties expected us...

Re: 2015 UK General Election
...unless one enters some sort of arrangement with other voters, or the election contest really is down to the knuckle, I am a bit dubious about tactical voting. Hmmm, I agree tactical voting is not ideal, but it's a direct consequence of the FPTP system. I had such hopes last election that the Lib...

Re: 2015 UK General Election
I've voted Me too :D I'm voting Green. I'd prefer a system in which we elect an individual candidate, based on his or her personally stated principles, with a commitment to adhere to those principles if elected, irrespective of Party policy. I think it's because the petition is from Save the Children.Ninny wrote:Does this wording mean "save children and let their parents drown?" Sorry if this sounds crass, but surely all human lives should be valued equally.
