Re: In or out?
Brexit: Article 50 was never meant to actually be used, says its author Yeah, I think so. However, the fact of saying that negotiations may last two or more years is void of meaning. 1) once art 50 is started the UK may decide that they have no interest in negotiating; 2) by the same token, the act...

Re: In or out?
I am surprised that, given the BrExit crisis and ensuing / impelling economic uncertainties, the Governement is due "to honor" the Summer recession. I thought those people's foremost duty were to serve h24 the Nation (adequate compensations are safe, nonetheless) :sad2: It is Parliament which is in...

Re: In or out?
https://www.chathamhouse.org/event/chatham-house-primer-brexit a few points which hit me. One is that the speaker seemed to think the "Norway option" had some merits, since it would allow Britain to make trade deals with countries outside the EU and is more-or-less in place already. Her biggest wor...

Re: In or out?
Economists oppose George Osborne's corporation tax cuts crusade Economists have labelled George Osborne’s crusade to slash the UK’s corporation tax rate in the wake of the traumatic Brexit vote a “mistake”, the “wrong thing” and likely to “backfire”. The Chancellor said last week he wants to push t...

Re: In or out?
I have a suspect that all those chain resignations have been "asked" by someone high in the ladder that I don't personally know :puzzled: Who might that be, Gottard? Go one, give us a clue, does the name start with E or G? No one else they would listennto. let me anticipate that I am unsure about t...

Re: In or out?
On the record: At the European Parliament this morning, convened on plenary, to Mr Smith's open request for the EU to pay benign attention to Scotland' remain vote, the whole House rose in a standing ovation.

Re: In or out?
I was clearly joking when I suggested to switch driving side; it would cost Scotland a fortune and it would be rather dangerous, also considering that NI and the Republic also drive on the left. As concerning secession, and as EU rule/laws stand, the UK should first officially declare secession from...

Re: In or out?
This is a test but I also have a semi-serious suggestion: if a second referendum will be held in Scotland, as it is highly likely, and if it wins, which is very likely, will it switch to right-driving? To show England that the border has indeed been marked?

Re: In or out?
The worst thing that might happen to my British friends is to score a 50% in and out, or very close to that. Such a result would pose very serious problems, both internally and toward the EU. Rather that that, an out win would be less bruising and way more manageable politically, at least internally...

Happy Summer Solstice to you all. Less rain and and more sun would be appreciated on the Alpine region.
