Re: 2015 UK General Election

Nick It would not be a viable proposition for Scotland to have its own nuclear deterrent (they would just shelter under England's) (patronising much) :hilarity: England doesn't have one! There is a 'nuclear deterrent' Based in Scotland that is controlled by America. Poll after poll shows that the p...

Re: Scottish Devolution

Could we each go it alone? Certainly, but we would both be diminished by so doing. in your opinion! And more specifically, I really, sincerely, believe that Scotland would be severely In a disadvantaged by ploughing its own furrow. Certainly Scots have made huge contributions to Britain (Just think...

Re: Scottish Devolution

Re: Scottish Devolution

(equivalent, of course- you won't have the pound) Getting tedious Nick, The pound belongs to Scotland every bit as much as it does to England and Wales. And for ffs forget the price of oil! Scotland has a GDP to match the rest of the UK without the oil, the oil is the icing on the cake, Scotlands c...

I am also English and concur with what Lewist and fia have said above. Next time will be March 20th 2034, then again in 2053 and 2072.
I could possibly be around for the next one but not the two after that.

Looking forward to next weeks eclipse, we are getting 97% coverage, the best in the UK apparently. From MSN. "Shetland expects to be one of the darkest places in the country, with an eclipse of approximately 97%. Sumburgh lighthouse, at the southern tip of the Mainland, will be live-streaming images...

Re: BBC Focus Magazine - do you read it?

Sorry for being pedantic Compo but it is a science magazine and the scientific understanding of a lot of things have changed, not just from the magazines of 4/5 years ago but in some instances from last month or the one before, so I don't think re-reading is a good idea.

Re: BBC Focus Magazine - do you read it?

I've been reading Focus for some years (I have a mountain of them that I really should re-cycle) Not got the April issue yet though,
I have considered dumping it as about half the content is now given over to advertisements, grr!

The judge apparently 'made a mistake'
Seems you can swear on any book and it makes no odds

I wonder if they'll deduct the cost of the re-trial from the judges inflated salary? I won't hold my breath.

The wife of a good friend runs a boarding/rescue facility for cats, it's like a 5 star hotel.
Look through the gallery and the facilities.
Dogs are still best though :D

Re: Give prepayment meter customers a fairer deal

We have a prepay key meter (it came with the house) and I understand that it would cost us money to have this changed. Surely by paying for your leccy before you even use it is more beneficial to the provider than direct debit? Although on past experience of direct debit payments I know that they hu...
