Coffee, do you believe there are solutions to the (many) issues Prof Dougan raises here?
Alan Henness

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

The EU will COLLAPSE just like the USSR did!

'Arrogant' EU trade bloc to COLLAPSE like Soviet Union after Brexit warns academic

THE EUROPEAN Union is set to face a collapse on a similar scale to the Soviet Union, a well respected academic from the London School of Economics has predicted according to reports.

Theresa May could be forced to give up her 100,000 a year immigration target to get a Brexit trade deal with the EU as her top ministers push for concessions to get a better agreement

May is a hawk on immigration and has long backed slashing arrivals to 100,000

But many of her ministers are comfortable with higher levels of immigration

They are pushing the PM to accept long term higher migration to secure a deal

just so ridiculous. The many continuing warnings about Brexit by a huge and diverse collection of the well-informed (eg Professor Michael Dougan) are dismissed by Brexiteers as scaremongering, and ignored. But here we have a single academic likening the EU to the USSR and forecasting collpase "in a generation", ie decades. The EU and the old Soviet Union have virtually nothing in common, have they? Wake up coffee - Britain will be in chaos in less than a year

Britain will have at least two bumper new free trade deals signed and ready to implement on the day the transition period ends, according to internal government forecasts. Deals with the likes of Australia and New Zealand are expected to be prioritised so ministers can show voters they are delivering on referendum promises on the day Britain is finally free of EU rules on January 1 2021. These will be in addition to dozens of current free trade agreements that Britain currently enjoys as a member of the EU that Theresa May wants to roll over after Brexit. These include comprehensive trade deals with South Korea, Canada, South Africa and Chile. International Trade Secretary Liam Fox will finally be able to start negotiating and signing free trade deals with third countries when Britain leaves the EU next March.
That's it, is it? Yet more expectation management. What a joke.

same goes for you, Nick. Just watch in particular the bit beginning at 39 minutes, which ISTM answers one challenge you've regularly made. If the EU gives Britain special advantages then this will upset the many countries which are not members of the SIngle Market but which have agreements with the EU

exactly, and the language itself gives it away - in addition to the fact that these are just forecasts. "The likes of" - this always means "just those, or I would have mentioned the others". "The dozens of...agreements...that Theresa May wants to roll over after Brexit" - in other words, there is absolutely no guarantee that these agreements will continue. Wake up, coffee

Joining the TPP after Brexit would be GROUNDBREAKING for Britain, says British MEP

A BRITISH MEP said it would be “groundbreaking” if Britain joins the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) after Brexit – meaning the UK would be in a free trade deal, like the European Union’s customs union, but “without any baggage” of EU membership.

typical lying in shit paper headlines, which are revealed to be such when you get to the marginally less stupid article itself. It is not the Brexit vote, long ago, which has strengthened the pound but some talks about this quagmire which have slightly strengthened the pound from the position it was in. And I will say this only as many times as necessary. WE HAVE NOT LEFT THE EUROPEAN UNION
