With, of course, massive over-representation of hell-fire merchants and creationists: An affront to democracy: Unelected Church nominees on Council Education Committees in Scotland (and England) https://paulbraterman.wordpress.com/201 ... d-england/

I know. It's a disgrace, but when I found out about this some 15-plus years ago, there really seemed little that could be done. Hopefully, in these more enlightened times and falling religiosity you and others will be able to do something about it.

Meanwhile, this side of the border we have yet more and more religious schools...

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Probably a whole new subject but...

Can we, with complete accuracy, call this, "an enlightened age"? True, there are those of us who research and consider the evidence, weigh up the pros and cons, before getting off a fence and making a positive stance that we feel we can maintain.

Then there are politicians. There are also football fans, soap fans, "reality fans" etc, many of whom think what happens to the participants far more important than the rest of the world.

These, perhaps, are also fatalists, "They are not going to listen to me, so why should I bother?" If all those "me"s made their voices known at the same time...

Maybe the ratio of rationalists:irrationalist:don't care-ists has not actually changed much since the days of Hume et al. You seem to admit there is little enlightment in the minds of those who pull the strongest strings in this world.
"Look forward; yesterday was a lesson, if you did not learn from it you wasted it."
