am I stuck for one after being stuck on one for so long? Well, in the euphoria of finally getting it (after a futtocking long time) I have dreamed up several goodish ones, usually while in bed, then forgotten them. Anyway, if you have another, go ahead! Maybe just a leetle bit easier this time tho'?

Yup, "futtock" makes a marvellous expletive, not least because people think that I've sworn when I haven't. :D

What is the word for a painting that has been altered, as evidenced by some of the original image remaining? Alternatively, what type of Journey did John Simon write about?

just realised that the word spacing is wrong! Should be Hennikinsy Penn i tinsy

Here is another one before I forget it; it is mainly francophone (but the two main words are used widely in English):
Business innovator opposes loafer. Hennikinsy Penni tinsy

First one: just gone down a dead end by confusing Zanzibar (an E African island) with Dar es Salaam (which isn't)... will think more tomorrow.

The second one: Entrepreneur Contre [something]?

first one - think big as well as more; second one - yes, and the last word relates to a kind of French 19C hipster

correct. The missing word in the other one: it has been applied to Baudelaire, Wilde, Eliot and more recently to Nicholas "Black Swan" Taleb

sorry to prolong your agony, TT, but it is hard to give clues about a foreign word, and ISTM one which is an agent noun but which lacks a parent verb. Hope this helps :laughter:

(later) it rhymes with "planner" - and I really do mean "rhymes", as only the initial letter differs

Must be a word I don't know then, as I've been from "alanner" to "zlanner"

(also, if it rhymes with "planner", it doesn't rhyme with "entrepreneur")

A bit later: Ah! Entrepreneur contre flâneur

(clue could have been "sounds like it might have something to do with quiche" )

Right, let me think....
