I have eaten brown bread as far back as I remember. The exception is when it is French or the like, when white is ok, but for the purposes of those who insist on a choice here, Brown.

Cheeses - those regarded as strong, such as Stilton, or those regarded as mild such as Edam? Why not give us a few more examples of your choice?

Roquefort is my favourite, so strong I guess it is :D Anything blue apart from Danish (fab for broccoli soup but too acid for biscuits methinks). Have actually just eaten Roquefort, strong organic cheddar and goats cheese on oatcakes with celery and a good glass of red. Yum  But I love a runny Camembert too.

Cheese or pudding? - assuming you're only allowed one option.

Mostly the former, occasionally the latter.

Ooooh! That's a tough one! I love living so close to water that on the face of it, I'd choose oceans, but given the joy I feel when walking and (better still) ski-ing in the mountains, I'm going to ignore any question of practicalty and choose mountains.

Nick, I agree with your answer above (except for the skiing bit.)

I have no idea what a Kindle e-book is, and I'm not going to "appear" clever by googling it.
When I want a book, I request it from the library, and they duly get it for me, then after I've read it, everyone in Shetland has the opportunity to read it too.
I look on this as "doing my bit"

So you should apologise; accepted.

In my meat eating days I liked it smoked; a smoked ham shank made fantastic lentil soup. Now I quite like smoked cheeses. So yes, smoked.

For the time-being, newfangled energy-saving poisonous ones. Though I'll be glad when there's an easier way of disposing of dead ones than taking them to the dump. I think the future is LEDs, though. It's looking quite promising.

Jug or straight?
Agreed, Nick, unless the lager is something like the Harviestoun brewery's Schiehallion, a lager apart!

Straight - from the tap into my glass, I take it is what you mean rather than a big jug to share among friends.

You are selecting music at a party - Beatles or Rolling Stones?

Depends on the type of party. Stones for me.

A rock or a hard place?

Is there a there a trick here?

Brown Sugar would come first in my personal Stones list, followed by Sympathy for the Devil (though the Bryan Ferry version oozes more evil than the Mick Jagger version). A Rock or a Hard Place (always assuming that's what it's called) would be a bit down the list.

I believe MS are clutching at straws with IE8 but for me Firefox is the choice, no contest.

MS Office because it's more universal and has more features.
