Some one on the "Museum of Curiosity" on R4 has just suggested that "God" is a kind of super-super ego - an internal authority figure, a construct of the mind.

I'll go with that!

on the subject of Dawkins's debates though, what do you make of his refusing to take on Bill Craig because he finds Craig's justification of OT massacres (the Canaanites at least) disgusting? I agree with RD, but it does not seem a strong enough reason for refusing to debate against the man who seems to be the white knight of Xian academic philosophy

thanks, Alan - I had already seen this; perhaps I am missing something, but that article does seem to be about the genocide thing.

I see lots of the comments after Guardian piece dismiss Craig's intelligence and credentials, but I am not so sure - this is the Wiki article on him:

If anyone is interested in the Euthyphro dilemma and Craig's Divine Command Theory, I started a thread on the Theologica site about this: it seems blindingly obvious that Euthyphro does work, but try telling them that!
