Is this an original quotation of yours, thundril? Or is it a translation of some famous Scandinavian philosopher? Either way, I think it deserves to be on our humanist quotations page.

So, at the end of the day it all boils down to an argument from personal incredulity?

Take care, Mike, and may your God go with you.

Hi, Maria! Thank you for your kind response. I was just saying what was in my mind at the time. Jax.

I have no animosity towards mickyd but what a complete waste of his (and others) time.

I had a JW caller this morning, it took me a minute to suss him out as he was alone,
I thought they only operated in pairs, I managed to keep him for 20 minutes although during that time he made several attempts to escape. :innocence:

Shall I post it under your real name or your user name? :)

Seriously, I think it would be great to include it. If you'd like to give a line of biography to accompany it, let me have it. Otherwise I'll just put poster on TH forum.

Feel free to use my real name, Maria. Couldn't think of a one line biog, though; Life's too complicated for that!
Love, Jax.

Thank you, Maria. To be honest, it seems very strange seeing my words quoted alongside 'proper' thinkers. Very odd, and a bit of a cheat, but please leave it there, it's very nice! Love, Jax.

Looks like we are all about to be proved wrong. Have you seen who signed up as a new member this afternoon?
Spoiler:
Christ.

Yup, that's right. Christ.

Though He did have to use google to find us. Not exactly omnipotent, eh?

I hope it's not god (remember him?) that's sent his son.

Welcome Mickey
Christianity cannot die because God lives, as the following proves:
You lost me after the above quote.

Are you trying to prove God's eternity for the reason why Christianity cannot die?

Sorry to let you know this but the true Christian movement died a long time ago.

Christianity today are just organized business to make money!

Reality some times sucks! but good try on the eternity, seasons, and time. Next time try Genesis 1:14 that is easier coming from a Christian!

AlexVocat - this is the thread about God which I mentioned - the arguments about materialism cropped at various places but page 27 or so seems to be promising

Early Christianity is long gone, Mike. That was different to the stuff today also a few things have survived.

Can you tell me now, whihch way of living is correct?

Is God is eternal why was his book not here at the start of us religious animals (humans to you)?

If he's so eternal how come it took so long and also violent slaughter to Christianise my country (UK) or indeed my continent (Europe)?

People who believed in the same god had to KILL people in order for your god to exist.

Sounds like a right bastard.

Also they weren't satisfied there, they took yule/winter solstice into their form of Christianity and made it Christian. If you celelbrate it in Dec (Christmas) (unlike the Russian Orthodox) then you're culturally more like the followers of Pre-christian beliefs. Halloween, not yours. Easter (contraction of Ostara (Old High German) Eostre (Old English) fertility goddess), not yours. Admit Christians plagiarised and we might actually give you a lot of credit.

O'Reilly is a pompous, ignorant twat: O'Reilly vs. Richard Dawkins
Alan Henness

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Watched a bit, listening to it at the mo'.

Add supercilious to that list, Alan.

Any more suitable adjectives folks?
