Absolutely disgusting.

This story in today's Herald didn't find it's way into Alan's media scan, but I think it's one that you all should read. Read this paragraph, and if you can't stomach it don't follow the link.
Later, when Ms Holland was eight, a nun pulled a hood over her head to help a priest rape her. The sexual abuse went on for three years until, aged 11, she fell pregnant. The same nun kicked her in the stomach until she miscarried.
This was Scotland in the 20th century.
These are the voices that need to be heard.

The most chilling part of that article was the last line.
Mr Shaw said, there are still children who are "out of sight and out of mind".
Thank you so much for posting Alan C. It really puts things in perspective.
The website quoted in the article gives some more background to this horrendous story.

It was indeed an 'abuse ethos', but we must also see the underlying strategy long practised by the Catholic Church and which has been perfected over many centuries. Power requires control and to control you must subjugate, in order to do so you must remove the person from theirselves and the most effective means of alienating is through the continued demoralisation of the individual depersonifying them to the extent that they see themselves as mere meat unworthy of anything good.

I noted throughout, the indicators of this process and it was not just the sexual abuse but the instilling of fear and loathing in the wider community too. This ensures that anyone of these poor orphans would not be believed if they ever had the chance to tell.

Is it any wonder I have an intellectual and emotional hatred of Catholicism and would like to see it smashed forever. It is an empire of the mind based upon the darkest evils humans have ever thought, a true blood cult perpetuated by suffering.
