Latest post of the previous page:

We have a storm force 10 here just now, plus torrential rain, I think I'll go to bed.
G'night all. :)

I think of you when I listen to the Shipping Forecast, Alan. "Fair Isle, Viking, Forties, Cromarty, storm force 10 imminent....." That's definitely duvet time!

Yes Nick it's been and gone now, it's a good job I got home when I did as the ferries haven't been running since, they're back on today though.

There are no cages in the voe anymore, the salmon were all infected with disease (algal bloom) and that particular salmon farm went bust last year.

Perhaps there is a god, after all?

It's been quite nice here today. Manages to walk the dogs before the rain came on (briefly) then that big yellow thing started shining.

I haven't had the courtesy to read this thread in its entirety and I'm assuming it's for posting weather updates :)

Weather update from here:

Yesterday it rained loads and roads I needed to drive along were flooded. The rain stopped at dusk, so it all froze. I have fallen on the ice 3 times this weekend, lucky my behind is well padded :)
On the plus side, the 'big yellow thing' came out enough this afternoon for me to chop and stack loads of wood. Hooray :happyclappy:

That's kind of sad about the salmon. How did they pick up that issue? Water too warm?
Glad the storm is over. This reminds me of another silly ditty: The storm is over, the land is dry, why do you wear your pants so high?

That must have been nerve-wracking! She must have really good tires to make it back. Glad you are all cozy now :)

You colonials really need to learn English spelling
She has a 4 wheel drive which helps, not a huge SUV but a modest Subaru, and about a month ago she had Winter tyres fitted so that helps as well.

It's snowing again now so town looks doubtful tomorrow, such a shame :D

We had a couple of flakes of snow this afternoon. Just a couple.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Would you like some of mine? Plenty to share :D

The bloomin wind blew powdery snow in the only two directions available in my woodshed and i spent a chilly time bashing the snow off and restacking. And I did some interesting cornering between clients this morning.

Enjoy your cosy snowed in weekend, Alan C. Will you be able to see the new dog in it? :)

Well he does have a pink and black nose which is like a Belicia beacon so hopefuly I won't lose him.

Fia, do you not have access to peat for your stove? It's free and sustainable (when cast properly)

A dog with a flashing nose - this i must see :D

I can buy local sustainable peat but have no access to it for casting myself. It doesn't give off heat as well as wood though, and is no cheaper.

Named after Leslie Hore-Belisha who, as transport minister in 1934, had them added to pedestrian crossings, which at the time were only delineated by metal studs.

The black and white stripes came later, introduced by transport minister Charles ffortescue-Zebra.
