Where was I in the 60"s?
Well I was a teen-ager. The perfect age to rock all the way through.
In 1961 we moved from Nova Scotia to Banff AB - the tourist town in the Rockies. While my folks lived there, I went to highschool in Calgary ('61-'64) and a Catholic Convent Boarding School none-the-less. Explains a lot. We had to be silent much of the time and I have been trying to make up for lost time ever since.
My summers, up to and including '67, were spent working in Banff. Man those were the days. That little tourist town rocked from May, after university exams, till September...We worked hard and played harder. Kept a blackboard to record upcoming dates and dances. Every night a different guy even though I had a winter time boyfriend.
I am told that if you remember the 60's you were not really there. Because I stayed away from drugs I remember it all vividly. My boyfriend ('65-'67)at the time became a true Hippy and did not come up for air till he was 33. He would spend 6 months of the year living in mountain top fire towers and the other 6 months running a lighthouse on an Island in the Inside Passage on the West Coast.
I attended University from '65-'70 where I received a BSc in Math and an after degree in Education. I was married in '68...not to the Hippy.
