There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Just got back from my local, where the FOS Brothers were playing. Totally blown away!
Anybody else seen them? (They've been around the folk scene a long time) (From Belfast)

Sadly, (besides, of course, the tragedy of the offence), no doubt the Goddists will claim that it was his atheism which led him to commit the offence....

A fantastic few days coming up: Dr Jazz (trad jazz) tonight, Sur Les Docks (punk sea shanties) tomorrow, Truckstop Honeymoon (yes, really!) (Rockabilly) on Saturday, and our very own Lewis T (smallpipes) on Tuesday!! :D

Just spent 5 days at the Larmer Tree Festival. Headline act was Tom - sorry, SIR Tom - Jones. I don't like a lot of his material but he was certainly a class act!

There was some really good stuff there:

Stuff I've seen/heard before such as Steve Knightley, The Selecter and Frank Turner, but also discovered La Chiva Gantiva, a young Welsh lot called The Bleeding Noses (very rough around the edges, but the sort of band that makes you smile; think hillbilly skiffle), Staff Benda Bilili - if you get a chance to see the documentary DVD about them, grab the chance!, The Dixie Strollers (joyful New Orleans style jazz).

But the find of the weekend for me was this lot. Really good musicianship, lively, joyful, youthful energy and simple goodfeelingness. Don't be put off by the title, and maybe listen to some of the linked stuff. Music starts about a minute in if you want to skip the context for which the song was written. (Nick, they're from around your way...)

Coco and the Butterfields, eh? Yes, they have played at the Sweeps, I believe. (Or was it at Broadstairs....?) Thanks for the recommendation; I'll have to look out for them!

Nick, I guess their music could best be described as a fusion (which works surprisingly well!) of bluegrass and hip-hop, with occasional other influences thrown in for good measure.

I meant to say I visited Nick a couple of weeks ago. The main purpose of the visit was to go to a party featuring his favourite band, Truckstop Honeymoon. They were really good. Unusual but good. They even had two of their children play in the break, fiddle (ten year old daughter) and ukelele (eight year old son). I stayed till Tuesday so I could go to the Fok Club at the Good Intent, where I played my pipes. It was fun. Thanks Nick for a good week!

My pleasure, Lewis! Just as well you like Truckstop Honeymoon! :laughter:

And you went down a storm at the Good Intent! :D

Hunter and the Bear: another young band that I've taken a fancy to. The vocalist reminds me of Roger Chapman (Family). Very good live; guitarist plays some very sweet bluesy stuff. Takes me back 45 years, but in a really good way.

I'm at the Pipers Gathering in rural Connecticut. I'm having a great time with friendly people, playing the pipes, lerarning new tunes and generally socialising. It's great.

Here's one for the many among us who can't get enough of a theorbo-and-baroque-guitar duo:

Things start to get a bit energetic about 4:20. And there's a take-no-prisoners version of Pipo's Danza No.1 at 11:20.
