Books not enjoyed

#1 Post by jaywhat » February 21st, 2015, 11:23 am

Just read 'Counterknowledge' by Damian Thompson and it made me feel ill.
Of course I agree with much of what he says about pseudo medical stuff and the overall state of the world, but having it all brought together in less than 150 pages was too much for me.

Never mind, Jaywhat! You feel ill because you are (hope the cold soon passes); and there's a pile of library books in the usual place. And you have a loving wife, but no need to tell them that.

True, very true.
Should we have a 'talk to your spouse' thread?

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

brilliant idea for a thread, JW, though I suppose that one usually does not finish, or even get much into, unenjoyable books. I already mentioned the only book I found so unenjoyable that I threw it on the floor (viz "The Dawkins Delusion"), but, given that I am kind of involved in a so-called philosophy course which in fact at present focuses on the idiotic theme of conspiracy theories, I am actually inspired to read the book which you found so unenjoyable
