Emma was indeed lovely but also a bit of stickler, especially on her own thread. Can you be a teeny bit more of a stickler? Or maybe make up your own rules - does this gem actually rhyme?

I think it does, but sticklers may think it's a partial rhyme: the last 3 letters of both words are the same.

Sorry I'm so rubbish at this, apart from remembering Diplock

Henny Ken Penny Ten: that suggests to me that there is no rhyme on the last syllable? Which means that it is not really a rhyme?

If Ken rhymes with Ten, it rhymes on the last syllable.

Nowhere near, although my second part is not a million miles away (but marginally less crude  ) in meaning. The "top" may have a meaning you are unfamiliar with but, once you get that bit, the rest should become clear...

I am probably unfamiliar with this, so am not likely to get further . More clues please. BTW my earlier query about the rhyminess reflects the influence of Emma, who if you remember (and IIRC!) was pretty pedantic about what she "allowed" (eg a strict rhyme has only the first syllables actually rhyming, the rest of the two words being phonetically identical)

Clues:
1. First part is nautical
2. A homophone (phonetically identical!) for the second part could be "nebulous ghee".

animist wrote:(eg a strict rhyme has only the first syllables actually rhyming, the rest of the two words being phonetically identical)
Formal proposal: The rest only has to be phonetically identical if it is indicated as being such by the consonants in the "Henny penny" bit of the clue.

Indeed - or "buttock loud"....
formal proposal - agreed!
Thanks. We should monitor it, just in case there was a darned good reason for Emma's "sticklerhood" that is not yet apparent to us; she was no fool!

Clue to first part: "top" is of the "fighting" variety.
