Good bye and thanks
Good bye and thanks
David Bowie died this morning.
Even though I am not a music fan I could not but appreciate his genius and the loss his death is to the music world.

Yes. Goodbye and thanks from me as well.
Re: Good bye and thanks
Clearly gone before his time. Listening to the track "Lazarus" from his new album is now incredibly poignant. I'll try to post a link.
Bye bye Bowie. Xx

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:
1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Was surprised how deeply I've been feeling this. He was an idol growing up. Bowie features in some way at every stage of my life. Sad sad day.

The sound-track of my schooldays. Very sad.

Think I know what you mean, anaconda. As I said I was never a music fan of any kind but one had to be an anchorite of some kind not to have been influenced by Bowie in some way. As the day wore on and I heard more about the man I felt the loss even more.anaconda wrote:Was surprised how deeply I've been feeling this. He was an idol growing up. Perhaps it was his several references to my favourite literary genre that reinforced the link. But his shear inventiveness was an attraction as well, I love innovation in any field!

Yes it was never just the music. Literature , theatre, art, politics, pop culture, plus of course the styles and personas. He was a high grade magpie and artistic sponge. I remember reading about the Berlin Wall after hearing Heroes.
I threw my brace away when I was 14 just to keep my teeth crooked! Silly boy.

He was a trend setter and people adored him.
He gave so much to music and fashion.
